“‘Those who contemplate the beauty of the earth find reserves of strength that will endure as long as life lasts. There is something infinitely healing in the repeated refrains of nature – the assurance that dawn comes after night, and spring after winter.” ~ Rachel Carson – American marine biologist, writer, and conservationist
The power, the richness and the purity of nature offer timeless resources for living, healing and thriving. The photos on this website capture images of places that have and continue to inspire Susannah’s own journey. They are offered here in hopes that you may also find them soothing and inviting.
The practice of land acknowledgement is important to the process of reconciliation we are now collectively involved in with respect to the history of Indigenous Peoples, the impact of colonization and the traumas they have endured.
Susannah recognizes the importance of place in her life and in her practice as a psychologist. With humility and gratitude, the following lands are acknowledged here:
The traditional lands of the Blackfoot Confederacy (Siksika, Kainai, Piikani), the Tsuut’ina, the Îyâxe Nakoda Nations, the Métis Nation (Region 3), and all people who make their homes in the Southern Alberta Region referred to as Treaty 7 Territory. This is the place where Susannah has lived, worked and played for the past 30 years.
The traditional lands of the Abenaki (Mont-Saint-Hilaire, Quebec). This is the place Susannah is originally from.
The traditional territory of the Tr’ondëk Hwëchin (Dawson City, Yukon Territory) and the Mi’kmaq First Nations (South Shore, Nova Scotia). These are places Susannah returns to annually for rest and renewal. They are also represented in the images on this website.
